Margot Robbie denies being a Barbie fan in new statement

In an interview with People magazine, actress Margot Robbie, 33, surprised everyone by revealing that she wasn’t a huge Barbie fan during her childhood. The star, best known for her roles in films such as “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Birds of Prey,” shared her personal experiences with the famous doll.

Margot said: “Personally, I didn’t have a[favourite doll]that I can remember. My sister had it and I remember my cousin too. I used to play with my cousins, but I wasn’t really a fan of Barbie in my childhood. She revealed that her childhood games were more focused on outdoor activities and her dolls were quite quirky. “I was the kind of girl who kept rolling in the mud. I think all (the dolls I chose) were very strange because they were not well taken care of. They were all weird Barbies,” the actress said.

However, Margot Robbie got the opportunity to star in an upcoming Barbie film directed by Greta Gerwig. About making the film, she shared, “I will never forget, after talking to Greta Gerwig (writer and director) for years, I sat down and read the script. There was a joke on the front page and I was like: ‘They (the Mattel group responsible for Barbie dolls) will never let us make this movie.’ But he did it.

The actress expressed her gratitude for being a part of the project and how she found medical inspiration in it. “The idea that I am enough. Barbie can be anything and everything, but even if you’re a survivor, you’re killing it. I found it very therapeutic,” Margot said.
