Active Memory Marks 29th Anniversary of AMIA Attack: ‘Too Long To Think Justice Doesn’t Exist’

“We will never know who planted the bomb, but we know who tried to cover up the truth,” the entity warned.

The Memoria Activa group celebrated the 29th anniversary of the AMIA attack on Plaza Lavalle (Comuna 1).

In turn, its participants said: “Life is around tragedy. Ordinary injustice. What can be said that hasn’t been said yet? We have all seen it, 29 years is life together, 29 years is too long to think that justice does not exist, that we will never have the truth. 29 years is a lot.”

“There are 29 years when we did not choose a life that touched us, lived a life that we did not want. No one is ready to be a victim, much less walk through the corridors of the dark Argentinean justice, looking for the perpetrators as if we were playing hide and seek, ”they added.

They also talked about the electoral context: “In just a few weeks there will be elections, but how can you think that democracy triumphs when the state is not able to take care of its citizens? What kind of democracy do we have if we have to judge a former president, a former judge and prosecutors.”

“We will never know who planted the bomb, but we know who tried to cover up the truth. Those who turned the AMIA case into a carpet full of rubble that we walk on every day,” they lamented.
