The hottest media trial in recent years has come to an end and Johnny Depp has won. Amber Heard paid one million euros in compensation to her ex-husband and left Hollywood to move to Spain.
Meanwhile, Depp returned to his normal life: at the Cannes premiere, where he was applauded for his new film, “Jean du Barry”; on stage with the Hollywood Vampires; And now in the limelight. This time, it’s news for the best of reasons.
The amount of compensation Heard was ordered to pay will be given to five charities chosen by Depp, according to sources close to the actor revealed by “People.” They are the Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance. Each organization will receive approximately 200 thousand euros.
The lawsuit opposing the former couple originated from an opinion article by Heard that, according to Depp, defamed them. The legal battle ended in June 2022 and the verdict supported the actor’s arguments. Faced with the verdict, Heard decided to back out and entered into a settlement with her ex-husband’s lawyers.
Nevertheless, at the time, Hurd declared that it was “a difficult decision” and that the agreed amount was “not an act of concession”. “It is important for me to say that I never chose this. I stood up for my truth and in doing so destroyed my life as I knew it.
