LEGO 2K Drive is coming in May; it’s open world

This week 2K announced a new collaboration with the LEGO Group, as they showed for the first time the new LEGO 2K Drive. This game is being developed by Visual Concepts and it is an open world racing game, which will come to consoles and PC on May 19, 2023.

As the rumors pointed out, LEGO 2K Drive was announced this Thursday, March 23, and that same day the first official trailer was published, which gives us an idea of the game style that awaits us to play in a couple of months. As expected, LEGO 2K Drive is a family game with construction mechanics, which allows us to create our own vehicles to travel through its open world.

Originally it was thought that the new LEGO 2K Drive was going to be a similar experience to Forza Horizon, especially since Forza Horizon 4 had a really cool LEGO Speed Champions themed expansion. However, LEGO 2K Drive offers a much more chaotic and fun experience, emphasizing open world exploration and vehicle building as well as racing.

LEGO 2K Drive will drop us into an open world full of things to do, with collectibles to find, challenges to complete, mini-games, races and more. With the announcement it was said that players will have at their disposal more than 1,000 unique parts to create their own vehicle, in addition to being able to choose other ready-made ones from LEGO City, Creator, Speed Champions and more.

It’s also been confirmed that LEGO 2K Drive will feature multiplayer from launch, which can be played both split-screen and online, though nothing has been said about cross-platform play. 2K and the LEGO Group promise that LEGO 2K Drive is a AAA driving game in which we can navigate any terrain without problems thanks to the wide variety of vehicles and components.

In LEGO 2K Drive’s story mode, we’ll have to make a career as a professional driver, starting as a rookie but working our way up to becoming a champion by winning the Sky Cup Trophy. Outside of story mode it will be possible to play alone or in a cooperative mode to explore the open world in company; You can also jump right into the action with the Race and Cup Series tournament modes.
