At its State of Unreal 2023 presentation, Epic showcased a next-gen graphics tech demo for Unreal Engine 5.2. In this demo, the team showcased some of the new features that will be coming to it.

These new features include Substrate, a new method for handling materials, and new procedural generation tools.

Furthermore, the demo shows off Unreal Engine 5.2’s Chaos Physics and some real-time fluid simulations. This tech demo of course uses Nanite and Lumen.

Unreal Engine 5.2 will also come with new features that will attempt to reduce shader compilation stutters. As we’ve reported, Epic Games will be adding a new PSO precaching mechanism to it.

Let’s now hope that we’ll get some games in 2023 or 2024 that will look as good as this tech demo.
