After enjoying a period of constant releases, Star Wars fans have suffered something of a hiatus. Released in 2019, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was Lucasfilm’s last theatrical project to follow the Skywalker Saga, and the last theatrical project in the years that followed.
Since then, Lucasfilm has focused on series that explore the Star Wars universe, such as The Mandalorian, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett. While the Disney Plus series have garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike, they haven’t done much to further the Star Wars timeline.
Most shows take place in established parts of the timeline and focus on characters who haven’t had much time on the scene. However, it seems that Lucasfilm is finally ready to return to theaters.
Although there has been talk of an unnamed Star Wars movie that has changed hands a couple of times, no details about its history have been released. According to Jeff Sneider via The Hot Mic podcast, three Star Wars movies will be announced at Star Wars Celebration in London.
This year, Star Wars Celebration will take place from April 7-10, which means that if Sneider is correct, fans will only have to wait a couple of weeks for a big update on their beloved franchise. At the moment, it is not clear if the projects directed by Sharmeed Obaid-Chinoy and Taika Waititi will be part of that announcement.
