According to the French Ministry of the Interior, the idea of ​​implementing this technology in security cameras, which will have artificial intelligence algorithms, is not to identify people or profiles, but rather predetermined situations such as “fires, traffic jams, abandoned packages or movements of crowds”.

With the implementation of this technology, the authorities will be able to decide if there is a need to intervene or not and how the procedure should be to guarantee the security of the event, since it brings together people from all over the world.

The use of this technology has created a debate among many organizations where human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International, assure that using AI in the next Olympic Games could transform France into “a dystopian surveillance state”, that is, into a country with rules that are unethical and that would promote “the large-scale violation of rights.”
