Is it possible to play Burning Shores without going over Horizon Forbidden West? Guerrilla clears it up

In a video posted by Guerrilla, the Amsterdam-based studio has explained to players how to prepare for the new adventure. In addition to offering advice on the game itself, the developer has revealed that you will have to complete all the main missions in order to access the expansion. Once that requirement is met, Aloy will receive a call from Silas, leading him to her next objective.
Why doesn’t Burning Shores appear on PS4?
Director Mathijs de Jonge has explained the reasons why Burning Shore is a new generation exclusive content. According to the creative, for Horizon Forbidden West they had to always take into account their optimization on PS4: “We have been able to unleash our creativity, and we are really excited about everything we have been able to include in this spectacular post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.”

Burning Shores will go on sale next April 19 at a price of 19.99 euros. Horizon Forbidden West is a direct sequel to the original game, which is available on both PS4 and PS5.
