This unique insight into the fandom’s experiences with the game comes amidst widespread speculation about Elden Ring’s “Shadow of the Erdtree” DLC, its first and possibly only expansion.
Released in early 2022, FromSoftware’s latest title was met with near universal adoration from fans and critical acclaim, the latter perhaps best underscored by the fact that Elden Ring broke The Last’s GOTY record. Of Us 2.
Combining open-world exploration with an unrelenting difficulty curve has once again proven to be a winning formula for the Japanese studio, as Elden Ring reached 20 million sales in February 2023, just one year after its release.
Bandai Namco has now expanded on that recently confirmed achievement with an elaborate infographic revealing key information about the fandom’s experiences with the game, including the five most difficult Elden Ring bosses based on total number of fight attempts.
Unsurprisingly, the list is topped by the infamously difficult Elden Ring boss, Malenia, whose encounter has been attempted 329 million times, accounting for 5.5% of all boss fights in the game that players have initiated. till the date.
Malenia is followed by two bosses from early games: Margit and Tree Sentinel, with 281 million and 277 million attempts, respectively. The list is closed by Radagon and Starscourge Radahn, against whom much less has been fought.
The infographic also reveals that Elden Ring fans have had 5.9 billion boss attempts to date, an average of just under 300 per player, based on the game’s latest sales achievement.
Given that many of Elden Ring’s most difficult bosses can easily require dozens of attempts at the minimum, this particular stat suggests that a significant portion of the player base has yet to beat FromSoftware’s latest RPG.
