ZTE continues to bring devices to our country. Although they arrive with some delays, we have had the opportunity to test one of their cheapest equipment in Peru and which is characterized not only for having good performance, but also for its design.
Its about ZTE Blade V40s, the terminal has a fairly light weight and is usually not as heavy as other mid-range ones. How will it be? Here the complete review of the good and the bad of the smartphone.
LOOK: ZTE Blade V30 Review: the good and the bad of the smartphone
DESIGN
The ZTE Blade V40s is quite light in weight. has nothing but 184 grams, but what is striking is that it is also thin, since it has structures ranging from 163.5 x 75.8 x 7.6 mm.
The terminal also has a rather striking color in the rear area, which is not only the typical sky blue color, but can also be an intense yellow, depending on how the light hits it. There we find a camera module that reminds me of the old lenses. In one module we have the main camera while in the other two cameras with the flash.
Moving around the terminal, in its frames we can find on one side the volume button that acts as a fingerprint reader, while on the other side the volume buttons.Already at the bottom we have the USB type-C port with the slot for the NanoSIM. It does not have a 3.5 jack for headphones.
On the other hand, on its facade, we have a 6.67-inch screen that occupies around 86.7% of the screen-to-body aspect ratio. In it we have quite discreet bezels, they are neither so big nor so small.
But we also have a small hole in the screen which houses the front camera, which does not interrupt at all, and is sometimes forgotten. Of course, it only has one speaker, so if you tend to put your cell phone horizontally, be careful to cover it.
SCREEN
This is totally AMOLED so the colors are quite vivid and it will help you save energy when using dark mode. The ZTE Blade V40s sports a 6.67-inch display powered by 1080 x 2400 pixels..
Regarding the tones, these are usually quite good, above all it is that they preserve that aspect similar to reality, without too much enhancement or contrast. This fully benefits blacks and whites, preventing your reflection from showing through at times.
On the other hand, in the case of YouTube and Netflix, or any streaming platform, you can hit 1080 max at 60 frames per second. It does not accept 4K, much less reaches 2160 levels. Remember that we are talking about a mid-range.
Likewise, the device also stays at the 60 Hz refresh rate. There is no possibility of increase, but, although it may not seem like it, the animations and the reproduction of the opening of the notifications are usually quite fast, it even seems as if it were 90 Hz from the factory.
Tactile feedback is good, depending on which apps you have open. Remember that this will depend a lot on how saturated the terminal is with running apps, otherwise, this wonder would slow down a bit.
PROCESSOR AND PERFORMANCE
Although I am confident that it can be updated to Android 13, the ZTE Blade V40s works correctly with Android 12 and its MyOS 12 customization layer.which is a customization layer that is not complicated, much less overloaded, on the contrary, it is quite intuitive.
On the subject of memory RAM this is 6 GB, but it can be extended to 5 GB more so that you can improve the performance of your team without having to end up throwing it to the wall.
yes, only you have around 128 GB of storage, so that may fall short in some cases, especially if you tend to download heavy games. The slot that it brings only has double NanoSIM and its communication system is 4G.
Now despite not bringing one of the popular processors, the Unisoc T618 It is well placed, avoiding at all times the flickering or delay when opening some applications. I have been surprised by the fact that you can have heavy games in a few minutes.
What’s in the gaming theme? Well, we were able to install Genshin Impact, even though it eats up almost half of the team’s storage. This develops well, although at first you tend to see some pixelization in the graphics and a delay in the launch of the powerful ones. But that is fixed as the story progresses.
Likewise PUBG Mobile. In it, you can do 60 frames per second and there is no lag involved. You can turn quickly and the keystrokes are fast. Let’s remember that the game does not tend to occupy too much in the terminal, so it is light and the graphics are enjoyed with full guarantee.
Of course, in the upper area of the rear, right next to the cameras, you usually feel a kind of warming that is not extreme, but it attracts attention. We must also know that the components that the cell phone has are made of plastic.
CAMERAS
He ZTE Blade V40s has a triple rear camera where we have a 50-megapixel main lens, a 5-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel Depth sensor. Already in the front area we find an 8 megapixel selfie camera.
On the subject of the wider sensor, this one tends to take pretty sharp photos, but it’s best to lean on a stabilizer so the image doesn’t shake. The product does not have too much contrast, but it does have naturalness.
When using the camera on dull days, the sensor shows slightly muted tones, without much treatment or simply with shades that go from warm to cold, as if a filter had been put on it.
The camera application, in case you use the automatic mode, in itself takes images using a few megapixels, but there is also a section to use the 50 megapixels that, without changing the colors too much, but a little more detail is obtained in the photo. Of course, it weighs a little more than normal.
The ZTE Blade V40s does not have a wide angle or a telephoto to make an optical zoom, it only has the zoom through software that may not be liked by many.
Regarding the macro, you can get close to things and capture many objects, but I think that due to the lighting the photos come out too treated and even oversaturated, in the same way with the Depth sensor where you have to press the screen a little to get that famous bokeh effect.
What’s in the dark? The camera of the ZTE Blade V40s has a night mode treatment, but what this software does is eliminate noise so that you can capture some naturalness in your photos. It does a good job, but as long as you use the lights that are around you.
On the subject of the selfie camera, these come out quite decent. You can play with the blur effect to get improvements in your selfies. The naturalness is also a positive point, even when you are in the shade the colors may be more realistic than when you are in the sun.
BATTERY
He ZTE Blade V40s has a 4500 mAh battery and 22.5 w charging, which gives you regular power when you plug it in. For example, We will have 50% in around 45 minutes, while 100% of it will take an hour and a half.
On the other hand, regarding the download, since it does not have any kind of refresh rate, it stays between 16 to 18 hours on average, in case you do quite simple things.
In the case of video games, where heating is present, the terminal can reach 10 hours without problems, you can even use the energy saver to prevent the brightness from exceeding the maximum.
CONCLUSIONS
- The device, being a mid-range, takes advantage of all possible resources to avoid those stoppages in between. The phone runs quite well.
- We were able to improve our experience when increasing RAM, especially when opening applications.
- Of course, you should take into account using a good lighting source in case you want to record photos or they will mostly come out filtered in blue.
