Artists who started their careers in reality …

reality shows are, without a doubt, a fever and, in the musical segment, this dynamic is no different. In addition to being great entertainment for spectators, music competitions are a great opportunity for amateur artists to enter the professional market.

The list of singers who took the first step towards a music career in reality shows is extensive, so Antena 1 has prepared a list of five great voices of today that were discovered through music programs. Did you know about everyone?

1. Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson was one of the pioneers to launch herself into the professional market through reality shows. At just 20 years old, the North American was champion of the first season of ‘American Idol’in 2002.

After winning the reality show, the singer won the long-awaited contract with a record label and, shortly thereafter, her first authorial track released, “A Moment Like This”, became the best-selling single in the United States, in 2002.

With “Breakaway”, her second studio album, the artist consolidated herself once and for all in the industry and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.

2. Harry Styles

Before being the owner of today’s greatest hits, such as “As It Was” and “Watermelon Sugar”, Harry Styles signed up for the seventh season of ‘The X Factor’in 2010.

Only 16 years old at the time, the young man sang “Isn’t She Lovely”, by Stevie Wonder and secured his place in the competition. During the course of the program, Simon Cowell decided to join him with four other competitors of the same age group and, thus, was born One Direction.

Despite not being crowned champion of the edition, the group built a successful career that lasted until 2016, when each of the members went on a solo career.

In the case of Styles, fame is here to stay and, currently, the singer is one of the most renowned in the market.

3. Beyonce

The first step for Beyonce becoming the most powerful woman in the music business happened on a reality show. In 1993, when she was just 12 years old, the American participated in the reality show ‘Star Search’with the group Girl’s Tyme.

Despite not having won the reality show, Girl ‘s Tyme was the embryonic seed for Destiny’s Childthe girl group that launched Beyoncé to stardom.

4. Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello launched herself into the music market through reality ‘The X Factor USA’. The artist participated in the second season, in 2012, when she was 15 years old.

As with Harry Styles, Simon Cowell also paired young Camila with four other promising teenagers to compete as a group. Thus was born the girl band Fifth Harmony.

The quintet became a success, just not more so than Camila Cabello herself, who, in 2016, ended her work with Fifth Harmony to focus on her solo career.

Awarded, Camila released great hits like “Havana” and “Señorita”, became a judge on the program “The Voice” and starred in a version of the movie “Cinderella”.

5. Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert participated in the eighth season of ‘American Idol’, in 2009. The artist finished second in the competition, but released his first album that same year, selling 198,000 copies in the first week alone.
