The Águilas Cibaeñas announced that the players Juan Lagares and Geraldo Perdomo will debut this Tuesday in Santo Domingo against the Tigres del Licey at the beginning of the process of strengthening the team for the closing of the regular series and their participation in the round-robin semifinal.
The information was provided by Ángel Ovalles, the Aguiluchos Baseball Operations Manager, who added that the team will have practice starting at 2:30 p.m. this Monday afternoon at the Cibao stadium.
Ovalles also announced that Frank Germán concluded his participation with the team, after an excellent job as a middle reliever in 13 games, in which he worked 14.1 innings, giving up three runs, four transfers and striking out 15. He was 0-0, with a 1.88 ERA. and his WHIP closed at 1.12.
The Águilas also have an agenda to add Zoilo Almonte this week and hope to do so with catcher Francisco Peña as well, according to Ovalles.
Outfielder Lagares is one of the “flagship” of the yellow team, leading its offense in recent years with a solid defense and who arrives after a successful season in Korean baseball.
Last year, Lagares played 20 games in the regular series, finishing with records of .301 average and .330/.398/.727 in special statistics, with 17 RBIs and one home run.
In the play-in against El Escogido, he hit .444 (9-4) and in 15 round-robin games he finished with a .306 average and records of .317/.435/.753. He signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels and in the middle of the season he transferred in that same condition to Korea, where he finished solidly and as champion
On his side, Perdomo will make his debut with the Águilas Cibaeñas, who acquired him through a trade with the Toros del Este, who received Danny Santana.
Perdomo is a pure shortstop, he comes from his second year of experience in the Major Leagues, he made his debut playing 11 games in 2021, he made the Arizona Diamondbacks team this 2022, participating in 148 games in his development process, with a .195 stats. AVG. .285/.262/.547, 5 HRs and 40 RBIs.
He is a native of Santo Domingo, he was the first selection of the Bulls in the LIDOM draw in 2019, he is 23 years old, he measures 6 feet, 2 inches and weighs 184 pounds.
