That people have the ability to change, or evolve, depending on how you see it, is always a good thing. No one has to be married for life to what he once did or to the ideas he once professed. A great example of this is Sofía Aragón, who without shame or guilt, but full of goodwill, decided to turn her way and contribute her experience as an inspiration for change.
But what has Sofía Aragón done? Well, the former beauty queen has become a defender of new aesthetic models, more inclusive and current. While she herself was part of one of the most visible parts of the traditional female beauty machine, she has decided to step back from that and lead a more fair and realistic crusade.
Whoever was the winner of the Mexicana Universal 2019 contest and representative of Mexico in the Miss Universe 2019 contest -where she was second runner-up- now promotes the acceptance of different body shapes from her role as a model.
The woman from Guadalajara, now 28 years old, joined a fashion brand whose pillar is to highlight all types of bodies. “It is important to highlight Latin beauty, before the beauty standard consisted of being size 0 and double zero, that is, they required us to be very thin,” said the model, writer, presenter, speaker, and former beauty queen.
“That is why it is of vital importance to me to show that there are different types of bodies, for example, the Latin body is full of curves, rhythms and, personally, it is my favorite,” Aragón confessed regarding his union with the firm of fashion that now represents.
The ex-conductor of joy come Y The voice he did not want to miss the opportunity to paint a less than optimistic picture of self-perception. “I think that each one of us has very marked labels of what it means to be who we are in the world for being men, women, professionals, Mexicans, any type of label that has been imposed on us for the simple fact of being born where we were born or acquiring that education,” he said.
In view of this, he wanted to extend an invitation to people to be part of the change. “That’s why it’s great to define which labels we do want to keep and which ones are not part of us. I always tell people that you have to decide to be who you were before they told you who you were and that is a process of a lifetime of discovery , to question yourself, but that’s what life is about, to come to have fun, fall down, learn to get up and at this moment what I can say is that as long as you have fun breaking those stereotypes, everything is worth it, “he assured.
Even Aragon dared to comment in the same framework what sensuality in a woman is for her. “For me, sensuality doesn’t have so much to do with the physical, it has to do with the mind, and I believe that any woman is sensual when she feels in control of herself.” She defined herself in a very particular way: “I am a daring woman, I like to break the rules, disruptive, she owns me.”
That explains the change of direction and the position that he now defends. In fact, she recently also showed her position on the changes regarding the new rules of Miss Universe. “Very valuable changes were made this year, both married women, who have had children, and that now the new owner is a trans woman, it is something very valuable that Miss Universe, like the majority of platforms in the world, are taking realize that there is nothing more important than valuing diversity”.
Everything seems to indicate that this is a genuine position, based on real convictions. Only time and actions will tell how solid Sofía Aragón’s ideals are, or if they respond to a circumstantial requirement or an interest of another nature.
