The meeting between the United States and Iran was one of the most anticipated during the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

The reason for the protests
Demonstrations in Iran began 10 weeks ago after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22 year old woman died in custody after being arrested by the moral police, allegedly, for violating the rules that require women to cover their hair with a hijab.
Since then, the authorities have responded with a violent wave of reprisals, same as it has ended, at least, the lives of 448 Iranians, including 60 infants; in addition to the arrest of 18,000 people.
