Emergency physicians warn of the untenable emergency situation

The Spanish Society of Emergency and Emergency Medicine (Semes)which brings together more than 25,000 professionalswarned yesterday of the “Complicated and unsustainable situation that these services have been experiencing since 2019” and that it is increasing without the Government of Spain and the autonomous communities applying solutions for the future for the health system.

The emergency and emergency services are increasingly treating more patients as a result of the situation in the primary care, and to this is added the “satiety” of these professionals due to the lack of recognition of their medical specialty, which is already a global exception.

Currently, these services care for 20% more patients on average –even 30% in some regions– compared to 2019 figures and the forecast is that these data will increase.
