Mexicans abroad may join the IMSS
Luisa María Alcalde Luján, gave details of the pilot program that seeks to affiliate 53,755 domestic workers, 53,059 independent and 981 compatriots to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
The pilot aims at the affiliation of about 53 thousand 755 working people, with an average salary of 232.5 pesos per day. In addition, 10,869 citizens who are already pensioners and 67,129 who have already registered beneficiaries, announced the STPS secretary.

The compulsory nature of the insurance approved last October was highlighted as the new stage of this program, which establishes that the employer must register the worker from the first working day in: imss,gob.mx/personas.trabajadoras.hogar.

The general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo Aburto, affirmed that “The interested parties have the advantage that they can pay for their insurance at the rate of their real income; have the coverage of the five insurances without restrictions due to pre-existing conditions and the possibility of paying the insurance on a monthly, semi-annual or annual basis in advance”.
Regarding the issue of insurance for Mexicans living abroad, Zoé Robledo indicated that there are 981 affiliated compatriots through the pilot program, of which 311 are women and 670 men. She also explained that through the 52 consulates interested persons receive guidance and can take the necessary steps to join.

Advances in the IMSS-Wellness Health Plan
On the other hand, Zoé Robledo commented on the progress in the implementation of the IMSS-Welfare model, where she highlighted that by the end of 2022, 3,657 people who worked as casual workers in the IMSS-Welfare medical units and hospitals will have a job base. To date, 2,136 already have this benefit, and 1,521 will be delivered during November.
In total, 412 Cuban doctors and doctors work in nine entities and 758 people who are candidates from 21 nations for 43 specialties, are about to finish immigration and revalidation procedures, so that they can start working in the country as of the first day of next year. .

Current situation of diabetes in Mexico
At the same conference, the general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control of the Ministry of Health (CENAPRECE), Ruy López Ridaura, indicated that around 13 million people in the country live with prediabetes and do not know it,
The director of CENAPRECE recognized that Mexico ranks seventh in the world in terms of incidence of this disease, with 12.4 million people with diabetes.

López Ridaura indicated that the prevention and treatment of diabetes has been a priority in the Health sector with the promotion of healthy eating, however the Government of Mexico must implement a public policy to identify patients without a diagnosis and provide them with treatment timely manner.
He pointed out that ultra-processed foods are identified with warning labels, since they are within the reach of the entire population. “This is the first step to regulate other products that also affect health,” she stressed.
