The appointment of Yadier Molina as Team Rubio pilot is imminent

The appointment of the receiver of the St. Louis Cardinals, Yadier Molinaas leader of the Puerto Rican team that will participate in the World Baseball Classic in March 2023, should materialize within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to what Primera Hora learned.

Various sources from this newspaper indicated that the official federal announcement should be made in the next few hours, and that it was only delayed due to the emergency situation that the Island is experiencing after the passage of Hurricane Fiona.

The imminent announcement of Molina as manager could be seen by some as a formalism after the controversy between the president of the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation and its president, Dr. José Quiles, with the former general manager, Eduardo Pérez, who resigned to the position last September 12 after clashes with Quiles regarding the preparation of the team.

Days before, the newspaper El Nuevo Día published that the biggest difference between the two was the appointment of a leader, since Eduardo Pérez was seeking to appoint Josué ‘Joe’ Espada while Quiles had allegedly already made an agreement with Molina to be the pilot. of the ‘Team Rubio’.

With the appointment of Molina, promoted by Quiles, the other position that would remain to be filled would be that of general manager.

Carlos Delgado met with the Federation but later indicated that he did not wish to occupy the position. In addition, the former Houston Astros scout, Joey Solá, who also worked in the general management of the Santurce Cangrejeros and as manager of the Puerto Rico U-15 national team and in Double A baseball, has been mentioned.
