During an interview with Vanity Fair, the director Taika Waititi talked about how the character of Jane Foster evolved together with his physique:
You don’t want that Natalie you come back to play the same character who runs with some scientific equipment. You know, while Thor flew around, she stayed on Earth, wondering, ‘When will she return?’ This is hope. You want her to be part of the adventure. And with the character of Janeyou want some more. Natalie she’s really funny in real life, she’s a little clunky and she has a great sense of humor, and I don’t think that was explored enough in the early films.
