National Health Day begins – El Sol de Hidalgo

The First National Day of Public Health “1, 2, 3 for Our Health”, convened by the different institutions of the sector, included those who practice traditional medicine, in order to respect the uses and customs of rural peoples and indigenous communities .

For this reason, herbalists, sobadores, bonesetters, traditional midwives, culebreros who are used in case of a poisonous viper sting also participated in this day; rezanderos, whose trade is to pray for the dead during funeral rituals and who are part of the health care system and provide care.

This through traditional medicine based on the use of plants, massages, temazcales, midwifery, offering indigenous people a balance between body, mind and spirit.

Regarding the statistics of how many people exercise any of the trades that intervene to cure any of the ailments, the Secretary of Health Hidalgo (SSH) only has the traditional midwives.

There are 350 midwives present in Pachuca, Tulancingo, Tula, Ixmiquilpan, Actopan, Molango, Huejutla, Tizayuca, in the Otomí-Tepehua region, Tepejí, Atotonilco de Tula, Zacualtipan, Jacala and Huejutla, who from January to date have attended 80 births and 84 puerperium, which is quarantine.
