“Violence was normal and was not the exception”, the phrases of the testimony of Amber Heard in the trial of Johnny Depp | People | Entertainment

The defamation lawsuit between Johnny Depp Y Amber Heard continues into its fifth week in court in Fairfax, Virginia. This Monday the 16th ended the interrogation of the actress, who against her sued her ex-husband for $100 million dollars.

Below we present the most important phrases of Heard in his last testimony:

“Every word is true”

Amber Heard referred to the article she published in The Washington Post: “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change” (I spoke out against sexual violence and faced the wrath of our culture. That has to change).

The actress mentioned that although she did not mention Johnny Depp’s name in the text, every word of what she experienced is true and she said she was proud of the article.

“Violence was normal and it was not the exception”

Among the testimonies that have been given in recent weeks, both Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have recounted the alleged physical, psychological and verbal abuse they suffered at the hands of the other.

Heard affirmed this Monday that the atmosphere of violence in which his marriage lived “was normal”, and that he eventually had to ask for a divorce. “I knew if she didn’t, she probably wouldn’t literally survive. I was so afraid that everything would end really badly for me, and I really didn’t want to leave it. She loved him so much,” she assured.

“I want to keep going forward”

Heard recounted that her acting career has been impacted since the first lawsuit in 2019. Her role in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was cut in a new version of the script, she said.

Amber also added that she wants to move on, in her career and personal life. “I have a baby, I want to move on. I want Johnny to move on too,” Heard said. “I just want him to leave me alone.”

No wound ‘that you can see’

Camille Vásquez, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, questioned Heard about the physical abuse she expressed. She specifically asked about a bump on the nose that the actress confirmed happened in 2013, and from which there were no visible marks.

“None that you can see,” Heard responded to this questioning from the lawyer.

I have not paid because “Johnny sued me”

In the divorce settlement with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard promised to allocate the money used to charities, something that to this day has not fulfilled.

Asked by Depp’s lawyer if she had donated the money yet, Amber replied: “Not yet; Johnny sued me.”

The defamation trial between the movie stars refers to a December 2018 op-ed published in The Washington Post, in which Heard described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Heard never named Depp, but he sued her for implying that she was an abuser and is demanding 50 million in damages.

Heard countersued, asking for $100 million and claiming she suffered “unrestrained physical violence and abuse” at his hands. (YO)
