This year, Dwayne Johnsonalso known as “The Rock”, will see his dream of stepping into the skin of one of the favorite anti-heroes of DC comics: Black Adam come true.
Johnson has been behind this project since the early 2010s. However, it wasn’t until the success of Shazam! in 2019, when the project would really take flight definitively by Warner Bros. and DC Films.
With Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) at the controls, Black Adam hopes to land in theaters around the world next fall. The film was originally going to be released in the summer, but the most recent calendar change in the DC Extended Universe pushed the date back several months.
This has given Black Adam the opportunity to return to the filming set with more calm to face the reshoots stage. The film picked up additional photography and scene correction a few days ago.
Dwayne Johnson continues to share details of Black Adam through his social networks. This week, The Rock shared a new black and white image of himself characterized as the antihero and with the face of dealing with bureaucracy.
“Intense week of shooting BLACK ADAM. We are redefining the paradigm of the superhero. The antihero. People no longer need a hero. You need a protector. Rage against the death of light. The hierarchy in the DC Universe will change…”.
It is true that the DC Extended Universe is facing overwhelming changes after the turn that Warner has given after the beginnings of Zack Snyder. However, the merger with Discovery is leaving a trail of cancellations and new projects.
It is possible that Dwayne Johnson, one of those actors whose presence in a movie implies box office, will play a more important role in the future of the production company’s plans. The Rock may also be hyped, but it’s normal after so many years pursuing this project.
