Tom Cruise returns as Maverick from ‘Top Gun’ 35 years later

The month of May says goodbye in theaters with the second installment of `Top Gun`, titled after its main character, which arrives in theaters after passing through the Cannes Festival. Along with the film starring Tom Cruise, an adventure by the popular French detective `Maigret` arrives this Friday, which will share the billboard with three Spanish productions, `El comensal`, `Toscana` and `In another place`. The offer is completed with the intrigue tape `Sundown`.

Another Spanish comedy that hits theaters is `In another place`, starring Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Pablo Puyol, Esmeralda Pimentel and Mario Pardo under the direction of Jesús del Cerro. A crazy family mess in which its protagonists embark on a journey that will make them change their plans.

Michael Franco directs `Sundown`, a drama where suspense and intrigue progressively take center stage, creating an ambiguous story that reflects the mental state of its protagonist. The film takes place in Acapulco, a city marked by violence in which the sun occupies a primordial place, and always strikes aggressively and directly. The film stars Tim Roth and Charlotte Gainsbourg, Iazua Larios, Henry Goodman and Samuel Bottomley.

gerard depardieu plays the famous inspector Jules Maigret created by Georges Simenon under the direction of Patrice Leconte. In the film, inspired by the novel `Maigret and the dead girl`, the detective investigates the murder of a mysterious young woman, whom he finds impossible to identify and whom no one seems to have known or remembered.

`In Costa Brava, Lebanon`, co-written by Goya winner Clara Roquet, a family faces the dirtiest side of capitalism after escaping from Beirut and building their own utopia away from the pollution and conflict of the big city.

Apichatpong Weerasethakul writes and directs `Memoria`, the film with which he leaves his native Thailand for the first time to shoot in Colombia in a film that gives the sound dimension a transcendental capacity. Tilda Swinton stars as Jessica, a British botanist based in Colombia, who is awakened one night by an otherworldly sound. The protagonist embarks on a journey to the heart of the jungle in search of the origin of this noise that only she seems to hear, and there she finds a man who treasures all the memory of the place.

This Friday’s billboard also includes animated films, with the premiere of `Jujutsu Kaisen 0`prequel to the anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen”.
