Although she does not specifically name Depp in the letter, the actor affirms that the assumptions cost him work and repercussions on his personal image.

In the last few hours, in a court in Fairfax, Virginia, in the United States, Depp spoke about the physical altercation that happened in 2015, when had to seek medical attention for a severed finger.

According to what he said in court, this happened because Heard threw a bottle of vodka at him.

“She threw the big bottle, it made contact and it shattered everywhere. Then I looked down and realized the tip of my finger had been cut off,” Depp testified.

Afterward, he went on to say, “I don’t know what a nervous breakdown feels like, but that’s probably as close as I’ve ever come.” For her part, Heard denied the allegation.

In addition to this, Depp denied ever hitting a woman and also talked about his relationship with Heard. During his statement, he mentioned that the bond between the actress and him was “intensely passionate and sometimes volatile, but always united by love.”

According to what the winner of three Oscar Awards commented, he wanted to try to make the relationship work but it felt like a “relationship with his mother”, referring to the abuse he has said he experienced from her growing up.

To answer why the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor continued with her despite these violent acts, he said that “Mrs. Heard had spoken of suicide on a couple of occasions, so that also becomes a factor, something that lives in the back of your brain.”

Depp and Heard met in 2009, on the set of the movie ‘The Rum Diary.‘, but they started dating in late 2012, Heard explained in a court statement she made in London.
