The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ actress plays Clea in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness It has managed to be a success at the box office. The story starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen contains both comedy, terror, gore moments and many revelations.
Among those revelations is that of the first post-credits scene: Charlize Theron playing Clea, one of the most powerful sorceresses in the world and the love of Doctor Strange in the comics. She appears to take him to another universe to fix the raid just made by Stephen Strange. But will we finally see falling in love with her in the movies too?
Thanks to an interview with comic bookthe screenwriter of the film, Michael Waldron, has revealed that it will be something to deal with in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when talking about the signing of the actress as Clea:
She is amazing. She is amazing and wonderful. He was very excited. It’s a dream casting for that character. I felt like we needed to wrap up the story about Doctor Strange’s relationship with Christine Palmer and I think he moves him forward as a character when he tells him that he’s not afraid to love someone or be loved. That’s what opens the door for him to finally meet his great comic book love. And she is his equal in every way. I think they have an amazing dynamic in the comics, so I’m excited to see how this plays out in the future.
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Clea first appeared in Strange Tales, where she was established as the princess of the Dark Dimension and the niece of Dormammu, a villain who was defeated by Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange. After crossing paths with Stephen several times, they finally team up and Clea becomes her apprentice. Eventually, Clea takes her rightful place in the Dark Dimension and marries Stephen. Recently, in the comics Clea becomes the new Sorceress Supreme behind the door of Doctor Strange.
