Rihanna: The singer is honored with a marble statue at the MET Museum in New York

Despite not attending the 2022 Met Gala due to her advanced pregnancy, the Metropolitan Museum of New York -home of the Met Gala and where the famous fashion exhibition is exhibited each year- decided to pay homage to Rihanna with an impressive marble statue sculpted in her stage of pregnancy. According to the organizers of the media event, they did it so that the singer was present “in some way” at the Met Gala.

“The statue of ‘Eirene’ (the personification of peace) is usually the highest-profile marble goddess in the Greco-Roman galleries of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, but now we have Rihannawho stars in this month’s cover”wrote on social networks the official account of the American magazine Vogue (which is also in charge of organizing the Met Gala).

Both Vogue and Rihanna shared the official video on Instagram showing said marble statue. The singer thanked the MET museum in New York “for this historic tribute.”

Rihanna is one of the favorite celebrities in the Met Gala of each year; In the 2018 edition, where the theme was religious aesthetics, the singer stole all eyes by wearing an impressive outfit inspired by the Pope’s clothing. Rihanna’s influence on the Met Gala is of such magnitude that this 2022 has made history in the event without even having attended.

The statue resembles Rihanna’s silhouette in the May issue of Vogue, titled “OH BABY, Rihanna’s Plus One,” where the Barbadian wore a full-body outfit that shows off her pregnant body.

On several occasions, Rihanna -considered an icon of current fashion- has declared that during her pregnancy she will not wear special clothes for pregnant women, and instead has chosen to expose her “Baby Bump”.
