After it has been confirmed several times that Johnny Depp is no longer part of the Curse of the Caribbean Universe, the first indications seem to be piling up that at least Captain Jack Sparrow could make an appearance in one of the upcoming films.
To this day it is not entirely clear why Hollywood legend Johnny Depp no longer appears in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. Because even if the series has lost much of its popularity in recent years, Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is still a crowd favorite and a guarantee of success. But Depp’s departure could possibly be related to the many negative headlines about Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard. As a company that is particularly concerned about family-friendliness, it is not appropriate to hire someone who, according to a court ruling from London, has been violent against his ex-wife at least once. The fact that Heard does not seem to be an innocent lamb is rightly not of interest at this point, since this article is exclusively about the acting career of Johnny Depp. But many fans haven’t really accepted the decision yet.
And fellow actors and actresses Depps take his side and defend him in matters of marital disputes as well as in terms of his membership in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. Greg Ellis recently commented on this and said that he could hardly imagine that the upcoming films would be entirely without Captain Jack Sparrow. It will appear in some form or at least be part of the plot. A “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” without Jack Sparrow would be like a “Star Trek” movie without Captain Kirk.
It is unclear whether those in charge at Disney see it that way or whether the two planned films have to do without the most famous pirate of modern times. We won’t see Johnny Depp as a pirate anytime soon.
