Die-hard fans of the Olsen Gang will know the scenes inside out in which Jes Höltsö plays a role. The boy plays the son of Kjeld and Yvonne and is now considered the last survivor of the Olsen gang, which was completed by Egon (“I have a plan”) and Benny (“Mighty, powerful”). Björge as a prospective apprentice at the Danish State Railways, for example, or as a long-haired youngster cleaning mopeds or as the groom of little Fie, who has it all around her ears.
Of course, the legendary Olsen Gang films were also shown in the Glauchauer Kammerlichtspiele during the GDR era. “And even today, many still remember those times in the Glauchau cinema,” says Mirko Hummel. Since not only Egon Olsen has a plan, but also himself, the Glauchau resident bought the cinema building at Otto-Schimmel-Straße 6 with the eye-catching Art Deco facade and colored glass windows at a telephone auction almost a year ago cleaned up and is now preparing a kind of cinema festival in the former Kammerlichtspiele. “And because the Olsen Gang is still in conversation with many Glauchauers today, I am delighted that Jes Holtsö is coming to Glauchau,” says Hummel.
The former performer of Björge is now a seasoned musician. And because that is the case, Jes Holtsö will give a concert on September 11th in the former Kammerlichtspiele. And then an Olsen Gang film is supposed to flicker across the screen. This is Mirko Hummel’s plan, which is to be implemented under the then applicable corona rules.
Shortly after acquiring the building, which last housed a snack bar and an arcade, Hummel had set itself the goal of making the place of encounters, culture and good films accessible to the public again. But the Olsen Gang cult night on September 11th is not everything in Mirko Hummel’s plan. Because one day later, on the day of the open monument, guided tours through the former chamber light theater, a small film festival, various exhibitions and presentations, for example from the club cinema or the monument association, are planned as part of a family festival. The Cantaria Choir concludes.
The fact that Glauchau associations are involved in the Kammerlichtspiel project is part of Mirko Hummel’s plan. Because he wants to involve the Glauchauer in the further development of the building erected in 1925.
