The production of another “The Hunger Games” film is progressing slowly but surely. However, it will take a long time until the release. The shooting of a prequel based on Suzanne Collins’ (58) book “The Hunger Games X: The Song of Bird and Snake” is scheduled to start in the first half of 2022. Lionsgate Chairman Joe Drake revealed this during a quarterly report of the company, as the industry portal “Deadline” reports.
The preparations went “very, very well”. However, the film is not expected to be released until the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024. Already last year it was announced that a prequel is to be published. The director will be Francis Lawrence (50), who was also responsible for “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire” and the two “The Hunger Games – Mockingjay” parts.
Jennifer Lawrence probably no longer with us
Since the upcoming film will be a predecessor, it is unlikely that the previous leading actress Jennifer Lawrence (30) will be there again. The original focuses on Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland), known from the series, at a young age, long before the birth of Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen. So far, it is not known which actors will be given a role.
