8 seasons of Game of Thrones gave fans a rollercoaster of emotions. However, most of them agree on one thing: The sadistic-pubescent King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) is a single hatred figure – it doesn’t help that he almost got an amusing pot cut in Game of Thrones.
Jack Gleeson, however, gained experience with cruel dragons years before the HBO series: In the fantasy action The Rule of Fire you can admire him in a small role on TV today alongside stars like Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale. The experience stuck in the Joffrey actor’s memory: He peed in his pants in front of the cameras.
Game of Thrones actors couldn’t go to the bathroom on the action set
That this mishap happened to him during a rather insignificant extra appearance doesn’t make it any easier. Gleeson plays one of the children in The Reign of Fire a world ravaged by awakened dragons need to be protected by die-hard survivors like Quinn (Bale) or Van Zan (McConaughey).

“They cast me because they were filming in Ireland and they wanted as many little Irish children as possible“, recalls Jack Gleeson (via Vulture ). In one scene, for example, he listens to his contemporaries Christian Bale, who is performing a scene from Star Wars as a knightly play. This is exactly where the mishap could have happened.
I remember going to the bathroom pretty badly. They said to me, ‘wait a minute, we’re filming’ so I just wet myself. I was nine years old and had to go to the bathroom. […] I hope nobody noticed. I acted for what it was. That’s one of the rules as an actor: if you piss yourself, it can’t affect your performance.

Game of Thrones star shows herself as an acting professional at a young age
Gleeson has already endured a lot in his career. Among other things, he took a hiatus of several years after he was personally attacked for his Game of Thrones role. It was his Professionalism as an actor using the example of The Rule of Fire, but has always been without any blame.
Because even if in retrospect it might just be a funny anecdote: children on film sets sometimes work just as hard as their adult colleagues. Since not every production country has clear regulations on occupational safety, some young actors have to maintain their attention spans for ten or more hours. Not easy for a child – a little urine should be easy to get over.
