Action fans can look forward to new food: In “KATE”, Mary Elizabeth Winstead gives the gravedigger a lot of work, as the first trailer shows.
2021 is the year of the action heroines: While Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was still providing family-friendly entertainment, four of her colleagues are preparing to make John Wick look like a choirboy: Kate Beckinsale in the already published Amazon Action flick “Jolt”, Karen Gillan in “Gunpowder Milkshake” (German cinema release on December 2, 2021), Maggie Q in “The Protégé” and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the Netflix action hit “KATE”. And for this, Netflix has just released the first cool trailer:
In “KATE” Winstead plays the eponymous professional killer. She is considered completely reliable, absolutely fatal. But then she misses an order in Tokyo. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, she has to find out that she was poisoned. She now has less than 24 hours to find her murderers in the yakuza milieu and to take revenge, so to speak. She receives support not only from her business partner Varrick (Woody Harrelson), but also from Ani (Miku Patricia Martineau), the daughter of a former target. Kate goes on one last assignment – and she doesn’t let anyone or anything stop her.
It will be a while before “KATE” is made available on Netflix. Until then, you can check out one of the ten action films from this one Video pull into:
“KATE”: Action from the makers of “John Wick”
The trailer for the upcoming Netflix action film “KATE” looks really promising. Mainly because the film takes place in front of the neon-lit backdrop of Tokyo. This means that the creators are one step ahead of the “John Wick” team, because “John Wick 4” is also said to be partly set in Japan. No wonder, since the Actionfest was produced by David Leitch, co-director of “John Wick” and director of “Deadpool 2”, among others.
Kate Beckinsale shares mightily in “Jolt”, which Prime subscribers can stream via Amazon at no additional cost
Director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (“The Huntsman & The Ice Queen”) has brought a rather illustrious cast of actors in front of the camera for his action film: In addition to Winstead, Harrelson and Martineau, Tadanobu Asano, Jun Kunimura, Michiel Huisman and the Japanese also play Rock star Miyavi with. And he should deliver a really blatant fight with Winstead in the film. So you can be curious.
“KATE” is from September 10, 2021 available through Netflix.
