Although the pizza-loving turtles can call their own a large fan base, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a rather difficult time when it came to films. The two real films from 2014 and 2016 were not really successful and how the animated adventure of Seth Rogen will be is also still unclear. Now, however, another film seems to be going into production – and despite previous reports, the notorious director Michael Bay is again responsible as a producer for it.
Bay is supported by a script duo
Explosion expert Michael Bay can do it again: The two films from 2014 and 2016 were directed by Jonathan Liebesman and Dave Green, but Bay was involved in both parts as a producer. It is not yet known whether the new part will build on the older ones or whether it will be a reboot due to the lack of success. The colleagues from the film starts to speculate that it is the latter.
They also report that in addition to Bay, the Casey and Colin Jost brothers will be involved in the new Turtles film. They are supposed to write the script and if you look at their previous projects, the new TMNT film should be an attack on the laughing muscles. While Colin Jost was already writing for Saturday Night Live, Casey Jost was already involved in Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and produced the prank show, Impractical Jokers. Deadline magazine also confirmed the involvement of the Casey brothers.
More than the involvement of Bay and the Jost brothers is not yet known about the new Turtles film. So it should be a while before that happens. If you are fans of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, you can pass the waiting time with the nostalgic retro beat’em’up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge. It’s not out yet, but it should be released this year and is definitely earlier than Michael Bay’s film.
