“Well, this match was my best match that I played in that time. And it was also the most difficult day, because of the emotions, the pressure that I had on my shoulders that day, playing my first Grand Slam final against Maria Sharapova. It was not easy to handle that part then. It was also a great match. I feel that I played my best tennis that day. I was very close to winning that title, but, with experience, she took me to your land, and it was definitely better than I that day. But I have great memories. I remember how much I cried after that game, but it was good for the next”, said Halep about the first encounter of the series, the final of Roland Garros 2014. “I was leading the match in Madrid, but I could not win it. And then I felt I had a better chance in France, but still couldn’t. Perhaps it was not ready at that time to face a champion. I needed more experience. I was not really upset after that game. Only took the positive things from the battle, because it was a battle. And I learned many, many things”explains remember their previous clash against Sharapova in the Mutua Open.
