The Force Is with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to the American Box Office

Despite conflicting views on the actual quality of the film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker conquers the domestic box office, and $ 90 million currently travels to the far distant galaxy.

Some controversy The rise of Skywalker has already raised it, and not everyone who has already seen it seems to be happy with this last chapter, so much to complain loudly of social media (even Stephen King has intervened on the matter ). However, the enthusiasm around the film is still a lot, and the results at the Friday box office also demonstrate it.

At the domestic level, the film directed by JJ Abrams recorded proceeds of 90 million dollars, with 40 million attributable only to the projections of the opening night on Thursday.
The numbers may not be comparable to those of the two previous films, but one certainly cannot complain.
The Awakening of the Force, also of Abrams, in fact, earned Disney and Lucasfilm $ 119 million, a record for the franchise; Rian Johnson’s Last Jedi, however, brought home $ 104 million in the same amount of time.

Let’s see what will happen in the rest of the wee-end, which however should not undergo too many changes at the level of box office positions, especially given the more than disappointing debut of Cats, who despite a definitely important cast, can not even justify the 95 million dollars in production costs. The box office was certainly not more forgiving than the heavy criticism of the film, with only 2.6 million dollars earned yesterday.

Those who, on the other hand, have received a good reception from the critics and the juries of the Award Shows (with 2 nominations for the Golden Globe and 4 for the SAG Award) are Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Thron with their Bombshell, which however struggles to overcome the fifth place in the ranking with 1.83 million.

Indeed, Frozen II – Il Segreto di Arendelle (which adds 3.3 million to its already huge collections) and Jumanji – The Next Level (which reaches 83 million in its second weekend) take the second and third places.
