Minecraft Bedrock Edition Comes to PS4 Today With Cross-Platform Support

Recently, it was claimed that Minecraft Bedrock Edition will come to PlayStation 4 and bring cross-platform support to all platforms. The expected announcement has come, and Minecraft will be bringing the cross-platform support to PS4 as of today with the Bedrock update.

The Minecraft Bedrock Edition will come to PlayStation 4 today and the new update will provide cross-platform support between Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Gear VR, and PS4. The Bedrock Edition will be available free of charge and Minecraft players on PS4 will have access to all purchases and progress on other platforms.

Since 2017, Minecraft’s Xbox One, PC and mobile versions have provided cross-platform support to users. The Nintendo Switch version was introduced a year later, but the PS4 version did not receive cross-platform support. Sony has often been criticized for blocking cross-platform features in the past, and the company has defended this lack by emphasizing that PlayStation is the best place to play.

Sony finally changed its rigorous cross-platform policies in September 2018 , and since then many games have gained cross-platform support, including Fortnite, Rocket League, PUBG and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Microsoft is bringing the Bedrock Edition to the platform a few months after Sony released PS4 cross-platform support.

“One of Minecraft’s primary tasks is to connect players between devices and provide the best experience, regardless of platform ,  said Helen Chiang, Minecraft’s studio chairman . We continue to fulfill. ” said.

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world with 480 million registered, 112 million active players per month , and cross-platform support will take that figure further. The Bedrock update will be available to PS4 players at 19:00 CEST today.
