The Redmond house has specified that from now on Xbox Game Studios will deal only with products intended exclusively for Microsoft platforms.
Microsoft has no plans to release additional exclusives on other platforms. It seems therefore that after the recent announcement of Ori and the Blind Forest for Nintendo Switch, which took place on the occasion of the Indie World on Monday 19 August, the Redmond company has no intention of carrying out further similar operations with its own titles.
Through an official statement sent to GamesIndustry, the company has clarified that the agreements already undertaken will be honored, but that from now on Xbox Game Studios will dedicate itself to the creation of products destined exclusively for Microsoft platforms.
“Last year was an exciting time for us because we more than doubled the internal teams that makeup Xbox Game Studios. With the entry of these new studios, we were aware of some existing commitments with other platforms and will honor them”, writes the company in the release.
“However, going forward these new teams will focus on making games for our platforms. We have no plans to further expand our exclusive first parties to other consoles. We continue to believe deeply in cross-play and game flexibility for developers can guarantee an adequate and enjoyable experience. “
