CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077, is still trying to figure out how to put the New Game Plus mode into play.
Apparently CD Projekt Red is still trying to define the New Game Plus mode of Cyberpunk 2077. This was said by the game’s producer, Richard Borzymowski, at Gamescom 2019.
The problem is the nature of Cyberpunk 2077 and its progression system, based on the player’s choices. By doing certain things you unlock certain skills that would be problematic to use right from the start of the adventure and that are related to the branches of the story. Moreover, the same choices can block other abilities, which therefore would remain such in the New Game Plus mode. In short, implement it for a highly structured title like that of CD Projekt Reddit’s not as easy as it might seem to most people. In The Witcher 3, it was easier because Geralt’s growth was almost completely unrelated to the narrative side.
A solution could be to give the player access to the city of Cyberpunk 2077 and to all his activities being able to count on the skills already unlocked but without reviving the main story. Another could be to block the skills related to the progression of the story, but denying some sense of the New Game Plus.
For the rest we remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16th 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Subsequently it will also be published on Google Stadia , as announced at Gamescom 2019.
