Once the Mbuku file was completed, the Saint-Etienne board inquired about several profiles of offensive players (pure winger, winger who can play forward, more creative profile). Despite research and discussions for Brian Soumare (DFCO, especially close to the Belgian commitment) shortly before the market closed, none came.
Diarra, injured until the end of the season, and Charbonnier were therefore numerically replaced by Mbuku and Cardona. But the Greens have not aggressively strengthened themselves quantitatively, even though they once aspired to do so. This will be the main disappointment of the transfer window.
In early December, Thomas Monconduit was informed that he had better find a way out this winter. For two transfer windows, the former Lorient midfielder was therefore potentially up for it. While Valenciennes and Paris FC showed interest, Monconduit eventually stayed.
He was able to entice Dal’Oglio and the managers with good training sessions and was even offered a start at Pau. Hopefully this sudden resurgence of desire, which we have experienced with them in the past, will continue beyond the month of January. If this does not happen, ASSE may suffer. As a reminder, Monconduit is one of the highest earners at the club (and therefore in Ligue 2).
The reserves coached by Rezik Nader are doing well this season (4th place, 5 points from the lead). Some players perform at a higher level than the N3 Championship. Some could have benefited from a loan this winter to move closer to Ligue 2’s needs. But no one was given a loan.
We especially think of Chekh Fol. The Senegalese has been excellent in almost every one of his outings for a year and a half and will now start to settle down. For example it could have served a good number of N1 teams. Boubakar Fall or even Ayman Ikee, to name a few, could also have progressed further by becoming more experienced on loan. In the end, all of these players will remain in the forays but should not benefit from playing time. too bad
